Heald Green Theatre Company was founded in 1962 with the aim to create a theatre run by the local community that entertained the local community. Our first permanent home was a converted chapel in the grounds of Cheadle Royal Hospital (now The Priory).
In the year 2000 we relocated to our present building in the grounds of Gatley Golf Club. Since 1962 our theatre has been run entirely by its members.
All proceeds from shows, member subscriptions and our fundraising drives are invested directly back into the theatre, helping us keep Heald Green and the surrounding areas entertained for another 60 years.

Putting on plays is at the heart of what we do, but it's not all we do.

We have three dedicated weekly theatre groups for young people and have a lively social scene too with fundraisers, parties, BBQs and other events.
Over our 60 years lifelong friendships have been formed and romance has even blossomed! Some of our members have gone on to have professional careers in the arts too.
Our 120 seat theatre is a fantastic asset to the local community (find out how you can hire it here), but it's the people that make what we do truly magical.
